Twenty-eight years, one workshop
We have grown slowly and deliberately. Every decision below was made to keep the making close to the people doing it.
Two people and a borrowed kiln
1998Started in a workshop behind Wijnhaven, making one chair at a time for people who walked past.
The first shop opens
2004Forty square metres on Nieuwe Binnenweg. We still make everything within ten kilometres of it.
Moved to the old grain store
2011Six times the space, twelve makers, and the first pieces we shipped outside the Netherlands.
Thirty-one people, one workshop
TodayWe have turned down every offer to move production abroad. It is the whole point.

Foundations of type

Rhythm and the vertical grid
Week 3–4 · 8 lessonsBaseline grids, modular scales, and the arithmetic behind spacing that feels intentional.
Typesetting for screens
Week 5–6 · 7 lessonsMeasure, hyphenation, optical sizes and how the same face behaves at 13px and 96px.
Building a type system
Week 7–8 · 9 lessonsTokens, fluid clamps and documenting decisions so a team can hold the line without you.
Final project
Week 9–10 · Reviewed liveSet a full publication. Critiqued in a ninety-minute session with the whole cohort.
